The origins of stress, anxiety and depression

Stress, anxiety and depression are the three ugly daughters of Fear.

Indeed there is no greater weapon levelled against humanity at the moment than fear.

When the ego faces a situation which it cannot control it automatically goes into a state of panic.

The ego needs to be in control of all aspects of life in order to feel safe.  For as long as the ego feels in control and safe all is well.

Quite often we see sad signs of an excess false sense of power–“arrogance” is one of them.

Panic also sets in when the ego deals with situations for which it has not received any training.

This is the reason why professional and ongoing training is essential for people dealing with emergencies.

Most of us have received strong programs of fear

Depending on your childhood upbringing, you are likely to have received a strong fear-based programming.

These programs (called memories in oponopono) quickly come to the surface when an unexpected event pops up that has the potential of creating loss or limitation of any kind.

In fact, depending on childhood experiences some people can suffer dramatic anxiety attacks about situations that other people would consider to be trivial.

How people react to fear depends totally on childhood upbringing and the family environment.  If your parents encouraged you to deal with challenges in a constructive and systematic way, you are less likely to fall for the illusion of fear..

Most importantly, if you saw your family members deal with difficulties courageously and calmly and you witnessed positive resolutions to these challenges, you will be highly unlikely to suffer from panic attacks and anxiety..

Indeed, you will thrive when dealing with difficulties and will find solutions to most of your problems easily and quickly..

The human mind is a computer and just like a computer it can only function within the parameters of the program that drives it.

The ego needs to be in control

For as long as the ego feels in control all is well.  A sad sign of this false sense of power is “arrogance”.

However, the moment a situation or a person appears to challenge this state of “control” the ego instantly goes into panic mode.

During these times of uncertainty, the ego’s reactions are always irrational, illogical and damaging.

Every day we read about outbursts of rage, acts of violence, murder and self-harm taking place–all of these are fear-based reactions.

Other people react to fear (for example fear of failure or rejection) with panic attacks.  There are also those who become paralysed, depressed and emotionally and physically exhausted.

It is true that most drug addictions and cases of alcoholism arise from some kind of fear.   Fear is also at the root of low self-esteem, and poor motivation.

Unfortunately, there is a stigma associated with anxiety, depression and panic attacks.  For this reason, few people have the courage to seek professional help.

This is the reason why most people affected by fear resort to alcohol and drugs and other unhelpful activities.

What else we can do to recover from stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and unnecessary fear based emotions

If you are one of these people who have difficulties dealing with fear, PLEASE realise …

  • It is not your fault.  You did not program yourself to react to fear in this way.
  • you are not alone in this predicament, millions of people are suffering panic attacks and depression in secret
  • there is no shame or guilt in experiencing panic attacks and depression.  You are not “abnormal” or “weak”.
  • It is smart and courageous to seek professional help.
  • Even if you are not ready to seek help, you can start on your self-healing pathway using certain tools …
    • my prayers for strength and comfort oponopono meditation for anxiety
    • EFT
    • Yoga
    • Acupuncture
    • Simple breathing techniques.  Merely focusing on the sound of your breath can help alleviate the effects of a panic attack
    • Everyday prayers for strength and comfort from a multitude of religious denominations.
  • You can refer your loved ones to this page rather than preaching to them.  Remember, many people are ashamed of their “disability”.
  • If you are a religious person know that …
    • God did not give us a spirit of fear.  Fear is a learned behaviour.
    • You can let your faith be bigger than your fear
    • Use can this oponopono and EFT prayer to address the deity of your choice.

I will discuss the topic of dealing with anxiety, depression and panic attacks more fully later in other articles.

I will also mention other reasons why certain people are more prone to panic attacks and anxiety than others.  This reason will surprise you.

If you are a medical or qualified professional who prefers using non-drug therapies for your patients, please write to me (thereisawayorg @ gmail.com).  I will be happy to publish your details on the thereisaway.org site directory.

How you can get strength and comfort during difficulties

You will notice that all of my meditations, prayers, and tools for dealing with fear, stress, and anxiety are simple and easy to use.  Let’s face it, when your ego is in a full state of panic and running riot,

Let’s face it, when your ego is in a full state of panic and running riot–you need a simple and easy solution.

During such times it is highly unlikely that you will want to stand on one foot, touching your nose reciting “affirmations”.

Even if you manage to do all of the above, your rioting ego will easily block any attempts at taking charge of the situation.

This is because when an ego faces a challenge of any kind all it wants to do is fight or run and hide.

More prayers for strength and comfort coming

I am working on a series of combined Ho’oponopono and EFT guided practice audio/video and I will be announcing these via Tweets and on my Facebook Page.

This one was my first experiment with introducing EFT and oponopono in combination to help reduce and eliminate fear and uncertainty during major challenges and everyday life problems.

Judging by the thousands of downloads and the many accolades I receive it definitely has great potential.

You can download it for free and share it with your friend.  Why not set a tiny link on your website to http://www.thereisaway.org? It will earn you good Karma :-).

I updated the prayers for strength and comfort meditation for anxiety page on the 22 Nov 2016.
